Cardboard Teck is both a design philosophy and a physical space for all ages to enjoy.

This active artist studio is the creative home for Professor Ben t. Matchstick, PinBox 3000 cardboard pinball, after school programs and the Combustible Cabaret variety show.

In 2025, Cardboard Teck celebrates its 20th year of building engaged communities, youth empowerment, and performance in Central Vermont.

    The Daily Delver: Headlines from Eberron (levels 1-5) 

    You are a team of elite journalists who are called into "newsquests" for the sensational newspaper The Daily Delver. How can you get the scoop while avoiding getting fired by Ed, your fire salamander editor-in-chief?

    Odd Jobz of Luskin (levels 1-5) 

    Your team is picking up work clearing out a hobgoblin merchant's basement. But the famed pirate city of Luskin, is built on ancient ruins . This job is going to get odd!

    O'Shyman's Inn: Perilous Predicaments (level 1-5)

    The innkeeper Séamus O'Shyman is always getting himself into mixed up situations. If you want to get your weekly paycheck, you first have to rescue the foolhardy gnome from his own bad luck.

“Professor”

Ben t. Matchstick

“Professor” Ben t. Matchstick is a performing artist working in the mediums of cardboard, games, and stories.

Ben has worked as a youth advocate, librarian, cafe owner, educator, puppeteer, artist, and entrepreneur in Vermont for 20+ years. He is the founder of Cardboard Teck Instantute.

He is the creator and artistic director of the Combustible Cabaret.

Ben is the co-creator (with Pete Talbot) of the award-winning PinBox 3000 cardboard tabletop pinball machine kit. Ben is the production and media manager and storyteller for the PinBox 3000, which has sold over 25,000 units since its invention in 2015.

Ben co-conceived Hadestown (with Anaïs Mitchell), now on Broadway. Hadestown began in Central Vermont and went on to win 8 Tony awards.

Ben was a traveling company member with Bread & Puppet Theater for 4 years and 8 summers. He a proud member of Generator Maker Space in Burlington Vermont.

Ben holds a BA in Theater from Northwestern University, an MFA in Interdisciplinary Art from Goddard College, and a Vermont teachers license certification for middle school English from Champlain College’s TAP program.
